Forest Research, the research agency of the Forestry Commission, is the leading UK organisation engaged in forestry and tree related research.

During 2002-03 the Forest Devolution Review (FDR) was agreed, the second report of FR's Quinquennial Review was presented to Ministers; and a new interim Chief Executive (Professor Jim Lynch) was appointed.

This report includes short reports on current research topics including:- social, heritage, soils and social aspects of forests; woodland biodiversity; protection of trees, woodlands and forests; ecological concerns; sustainable forest management; information collection; land reclamation and urban greening; pests and diseases.

It lists recent Forestry Commission technical publications and publications by FR staff and ends with the annual accounts for 2002-03.
