Blue Jasmine

Woody Allen writes and directs this award-winning comedy drama starring Cate Blanchett, Peter Saarsgard and Sally Hawkins.

Single, broke and suffering from a nervous breakdown, housewife Jasmine (Blanchett) travels from New York to San Francisco to stay with her sister Ginger (Hawkins).

While Ginger encourages her to become an interior designer, Jasmine's snobbish outlook causes her to question her sister's taste in men.

Before she can find success in interior design Jasmine's lack of funds force her to reluctantly take on a job as a receptionist, but when she encounters a diplomat, Dwight (Saarsgard), who falls for her, she begins to find some hope.

The ensemble cast also features Alec Baldwin, Louis C.K., Andrew Dice Clay and Bobby Cannavale.

The film was nominated for three Oscars and won the award for Best Actress (Blanchett) - a role for which Blanchett also received the corresponding accolade at the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs.
