The Book of Clarence

LaKeith Stanfield stars as the eponymous character in this historical comedy drama written and directed by Jeymes Samuel.

Clarence is a drug-dealing atheist who is deeply in debt to local gangster Jedediah the Terrible (Eric Kofi-Abrefa), whose sister Varinia (Anna Diop) he is hopelessly in love with.

His twin brother Thomas (also Stanfield) is an apostle to the Messiah and when Clarence fails at becoming the 13th apostle and securing their protection, he seeks to earn power and influence for himself by performing fake miracles.

Although people listen to him and give him money he finds himself suddenly conflicted and, when he is targeted by Pontius Pilate (James McAvoy), he must decide what kind of man he wants to be.

The cast also includes RJ Cyler, Alfre Woodard, David Oyelowo, Omar Sy and Micheal Ward.
