British Film Comedy: The 50s

Collection of British comedies from the 1950s. In 'Happy Is the Bride' (1958) a young couple, soon to marry, find that their wedding arrangements are the business of everyone but themselves.

In 'Into the Blue' (1950) Jack Hulbert and Constance Cummings star as holidaying couple Mr and Mrs Fergusson whose trip away quickly takes a turn towards the unexpected with the arrival of a mysterious stranger holding two suitcases.

In 'Father's Doing Fine' (1952) the film follows the widowed Lady Buckering (Heather Thatcher) as she struggles to support her ever-expanding family.

With two of her daughters unmarried, one undergoing marital troubles and the other expecting a child to Dougall (Richard Attenborough), Lady Buckering certainly has her work cut out for her at home.

Finally, in 'The March Hare' (1956), Terence Morgan stars as Sir Charles Hare, a wealthy Irishman who loses a bet and is forced to give up his estate, including his prized racehorse, to tough bookie Hardwicke (Ivan Samson).
