The Buster Keaton Collection

Triple bill of films starring the great screen comedian, Buster Keaton.

In 'The General' (1927), probably his most celebrated film, Southern engineer Johnny Gray (Keaton) embarks on a hair-raising adventure when his train is stolen by Unionists, with his girlfriend Annabelle Lee (Marion Mack) still on board.

The effects and stunts still draw gasps of disbelief after all these years.

In 'Steamboat Bill Jr.' (1928), Steamboat Bill (Ernest Torrence) and his first mate (Tom Lewis) have been running the stern-wheeler steamboat 'Stonewall Jackson' for years, but now look likely to be put out of business by entrepreneur J.J.

King. When Bill's student son (Keaton) arrives to help out, it transpires that he is a college friend of Kitty - King's daughter!

In 'Speak Easily' (1932), one of Keaton's earliest talkies, an absent-minded professor (Keaton) inherits a Broadway musical, gives up his teaching job and joins the cast.

His attempts to join the world of song and dance have hilariously disastrous results.

The film features support from Jimmy 'Schnozzlenose' Durante, infamous Hollywood columnist Hedda Hopper, and Thelma Todd, the starlet who was to become the lover of gangster Lucky Luciano.
