There is an old saying on Gaiadon which goes like this. There is little more than a whisper of shade between The Light and The Dark. Yet, this is the place, where Gods and Demons come to die.

Following their adventures along The Dagger Path and the insanity of their experiences inside the mystical Silver Tower, the three companions find themselves catapulted even further into the schemes and plots of the Witch Queens, when Isknot agrees to help Cassandra Novantae find and help her son Micah Apollon. An accidental trip and a brush with death in the void, with Pouri Kanohi by his side gives Isknot the chance to collect the most precious of alchemical ingredients Prima Materia. There is a celebration of love and life at the great tree An Aon Charobh which is attended by the secretive Volpi and beautiful Nymphs, along with a wealth of creatures from folklore and myth. The Drus Rakua Poturi and the Nymph from the Tribe Colenoi carry out a Remote Viewing to find out where Cassandra's son Micah has been taken. Much to Silas' fury he discovers that he is not in the void but has been taken by a clutch of Memitim, led by Aardverick, to the real home of the Demon King, Umbra Horrenda. Micah is held captive on the summit of Mount Mort dangerously close to the base of The Fifth Tower, where Silas discovers the whereabouts of the missing Romarii seer, Akasha and her father The Romaros. Unfortunately, they cannot save them and must complete the mission that Cassandra has set before them. Micah reveals a secret to Isknot when he swaps his soul bird for a white owl. He tells him that partner bird to his Alerion, the soul bird of creator gods is hidden inside a star. The rescuers have to flee Umbra Horrenda with hell on their heels and are led by Cassandra through the paths inside the mind of Time. Further than any sane person would ever go, she leads them to a place she calls The Edge of Reason. They escape with the help of Maroke and Atarangi Hiriwa only to find that they have placed the great tree, An Aon Charobh, and all its inhabitants in the gravest of danger. The battle must be met in smoke and flame, sacrifice, and death, at the roots of the great tree, where Gods and Demons have come to die.
