Double bill of sci-fi thrillers from producer J.J. Abrams. Matt Reeves directs 'Cloverfield' (2008) in which five young friends Beth (Odette Yustman), Rob (Michael Stahl-David), Jason (Mike Vogel) and Lily (Jessica Lucas) get together to hold a going-away party for one of their number, Hud (T.J.

As panic begins to spread, it soon becomes apparent that New York is under attack from some huge malevolent force intent on destroying the city. '10 Cloverfield Lane' (2016), directed by Dan Trachtenberg, stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as a young woman who is involved in a car crash.

When she comes to, she finds herself a captive in the cellar of a man named Howard (John Goodman), but he assures her he has saved her from the outside world which is no longer safe due to a chemical attack now making it uninhabitable.

She begins to question his story, and decides that she must see the outside world for herself.
