The Defiant Ones

In America's Deep South two convicts, black man Noah Cullen (Poitier) and white man John Jackson (Curtis), escape their chain gang and make a bid for freedom, despite being bound together by handcuffs.

The pair's adventure forces them to overcome their initial antagonisms and re-examine their prejudices as they work together to navigate a difficult river crossing and continually attempt to evade the posse which is on their trail.
