Unbeknown to Shalu (Zinta), Saritaji (Rekha) is not her real mother.

Before Saritaji's husband died he pleaded with her to adopt the child he had had with his mistress.

Saritaji accepted and brought Shalu up as her own though has never shown her the same affection she has given to Shalu's half sister Nimmi (Mahima Chaudhary).

When Shalu and Nimmi both fall for the same man, Dev (Rampal), Saritaji arranges a marriage between him and her favourite daughter, revealing the truth of Shalu's origin in the process.

However, Dev is really in love with Shalu. Will Shalu be able to gain her mother's affection and get the man she loves?
