Elephant Walk/A Place in the Sun

Collection of two films starring Elizabeth Taylor. In 'Elephant Walk' (1954), Ruth (Taylor) is the beautiful new bride of dour tea plantation owner John Wiley (Peter Finch).

Frustrated in the stultifying atmosphere of Ceylon, Ruth falls for handsome American overseer Dick Carver (Dana Andrews), but before the couple can run away together, the region is devastated by a cholera outbreak.

Trapped in a sexually fraught atmosphere in Wiley's mansion, the couple are soon under seige from a herd of rampaging elephants, determined to destroy the plantation that has been built in the middle of their ancient pathways.

In 'A Place in the Sun' (1951), based on Theodore Dreiser's novel 'An American Tragedy', George Eastman (Montgomery Clift) is a young man from a poor background who goes to work at a factory owned by a rich relative.

He begins a relationship with fellow worker Alice Tripp (Shelley Winters), but forgets about her when he meets and falls in love with beautiful socialite Angela Vickers (Taylor).

However, just as his and Angela's future together seems secure, Alice discovers she is pregnant and demands that George marry her, setting in motion a tragic chain of events which will forever ruin George's hopes of finding a place in the sun.
