Final Appointment/Murder On the Campus

Double bill of British crime thrillers. 'Final Appointment' (1954), directed by Terence Fisher, sees an intrepid newspaper reporter, Mike Billings (John Bentley), come to the aid of the police.

With detectives puzzled by the yearly murder of decorated war veterans on a specific date, Billings puts forth a theory that the murdered men constituted the court martial committee who tried a soldier.

The remaining survivor of the men on the committee, lawyer Hartnell (Hubert Gregg), is taken into protective custody, but will Mike's hunch prove correct? 'Murder On the Campus' (1961), directed by Michael Winner, follows journalist Mark Kingston (Terence Longdon) as he investigates the apparent suicide of his brother at Cambridge.

Convinced that his brother would never have thrown himself out of a window to end his own life, Mark defies the disinterest of the police and begins looking into the case himself - with unexpected results.
