Tyler Perry directs this exuberant big-screen adaptation of Ntozake Shange's 1970s award-winning play about the struggles faced by a group of black women.

The all-star ensemble cast - which includes Whoopi Goldberg, Anika Noni Rose, Phylicia Rashad, Kerry Washington, Janet Jackson, Thandie Newton, Loretta Devine, Kimberly Elise, Macy Gray and Tessa Thompson - portrays the various residents of one Harlem apartment building.

As the women grapple with the everyday ups and downs of work, relationships, finances and family, they must also face the intertwined issues of racial and sexual prejudice and discrimination.
