Pierce Brosnan stars as MI6 agent James Bond in this seventeenth instalment of the spy action franchise directed by Martin Campbell.

On his first post-Cold War mission, Bond is sent to infiltrate a Soviet chemical weapons factory with his close friend and fellow agent Alec Trevelyan (Sean Bean) and witnesses Trevelyan's apparent death.

Nine years later, Bond is sent to investigate when a Soviet-era satellite armed with a powerful weapon codenamed GoldenEye destroys a radar site in Siberia.

He is soon embroiled in a dangerous mission involving betrayal, revenge and a plot to trigger a global financial crisis and societal collapse.

As he fights to save the world, he is pursued by relentless assassin Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen) and comes face to face with Trevelyan, who is now his enemy.

The cast also includes Izabella Scorupco, Judi Dench and Desmond Llewellyn.
