The Good Soldier

Jeremy Brett stars in this TV adaptation of Ford Madox Ford's classic Edwardian novel about the secrets and infidelities of two couples.

Seemingly enjoying perfect marriages, every year, Captain Edward Ashburnam (Brett), his wife Leonora (Susan Fleetwood) and their American friends, John and Florence Dowell (Robin Ellis and Vickery Turner), travel to the German spa resort of Bad Nauheim.

As their nine-year friendship deepens, however, the carefully constructed public facade concealing their infidelities and flaws begins to crumble, ultimately leading to a series of tragic events that will change their lives forever.
