Statistics on energy performance and carbon and CO2 emissions : NHS England, 1999/00 to 2004/05 (with predictions to 2009/10)

This report provides statistical commentary on energy performance and carbon/CO2 emissions by NHS trusts in England between 1990/00 and 2004/05.

It also provides statistical predictions of key indicators for 2004/05 to 2009/10.

Data for the report has been collected using the Department of Health's online Estates Returns Information Collection (ERIC) system.

Whilst total energy consumption and carbon/CO2 emissions have increased over the past 5 years, performance levels (relative to occupied floor area) have improved and are predicted to continue to improve.

Additionally, it is thought that total energy consumption and carbon/CO2 emissions have peaked and will start to fall over the next 5 years.
