At this church he remained three years - the limit of the pastorate in this denomination - leaving Balti more for San Francisco in 1875. He remained three years at Howard Street Methodist Episcopal Church in the latter city, leaving that charge to become the pastor of the F irst Methodist Episcopal Church of Oakland - the Brooklyn of San Francisco. A year and a half was spent here until, in compliance with an invitation by his former charge in that city, be re turned, in March, 1880, to Baltimore.
