Wishing to secure the financial security of her family, Megha (Kajol) agrees to an arranged marriage to Vijay (Anil Kapoor), the son of wealthy businessman Vishwanath (Anupam Kher).

The young couple sign a contract that agrees that if they don't fall in love within a year, their marriage can be annulled and Megha will receive a cash sum for her time.

Will they be able to endure the marriage or will the arrangment all be too much?
