Psychological drama, part of the Danish 'Dogme' movement, set in a women's prison.

Anna (Ann Eleonora Jorgensen) is a newly-qualified theologian who accepts a temporary position as a prison chaplain.

Already struggling with her beliefs because of her inability to conceive a child with her husband, Anna's position as spiritual advisor brings her into contact with the mysterious Kate (Trine Dyrholm).

Other prisoners reveal to Anna that Kate has strange powers which have helped them overcome drug addictions, and Anna begins to suspect that Kate could help her with her own difficulties.

But when Kate proves hostile to Anna's wishes, and Anna discovers that she is already pregnant, rivalries and tensions within the prison lead Anna to suspect that Kate's gifts may be more shocking than she had at first thought.
