Jacey resents the rumours that his widowed mother, Helen (Kathy Baker), had an affair with Lloyd Abbott (Will Patton).

Jacey begins an affair with Eleanor Abbott to spite Lloyd, while Doug romances her sister Pamela (Liv Tyler).
