Ironweed

Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep star as a homeless couple based in New York in the years following the Great Depression.

Down and out Francis Phelan (Nicholson), a former big league baseball player, is haunted by guilt for causing the accidental death of his baby son.

Accompanied by faded musician Helen Archer (Streep), both turn to alcohol to escape their inner demons and grim surroundings.

The cast also features Tom Waits, Michael O'Keefe and Carroll Baker.
