A picture book about a child learning a lesson about respecting creatures in their natural habitat.A small girl and her grandfather are walking together in the woods, when a squirrel passes by them.

The child wants the squirrel to be her pet and come home with her, but her grandfather says that "you can't tame a squirrel".

The girl is led further into the woods, discovering new natural wonders such as a waterfall.

She comes to understand too that her grandfather is right, she cannot take the squirrel home, for this is its proper home, in the wild woods.Simon James has also written and illustrated "My Friend Whale", "Sally and the Limpet" and "Dear Greenpeace".
