On the Road was completed by the writer in three weeks on a roll of more than 30 meters of typing paper.

In order to pursue individuality, the protagonist of the novel travels by car or driving with a few young men and women along the way, traversing the continental United States several times, and finally to Mexico.

Along the way, they have fun and talk about Eastern Zen Buddhism, got in the way and stopped cars when they were tired, stayed overnight in the village, wandered from New York to San Francisco, and finally separated.

The book embodies the improvisational and spontaneous writing skills advocated by the author-the natural flow of thoughts, the counter-plot, the extensive use of slang, colloquialism, long sentences that do not conform to the norms of the commentary law, and a wide range of American social and cultural customs; on the other hand, the mountains, plains, deserts, and towns on the vast land of the United States are displayed in front of readers like scrolls.

This work had a huge impact on American literature, and the social atmosphere at that time changed, and it is still popular in the United States with annual sales of 100,000 copies.

Expert Chatters believes that On the Road, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Great Gatsby together can be regarded as "a novel that explores the subject of personal freedom and tortures the promise of the American dream", and can be regarded as three important classics of modern literature in the United States.
