King of Hearts

French drama set in WWI in which a Scottish soldier finds himself among residents of a psychiatric hospital when he is sent to a small village in the French countryside to disarm a bomb which has been planted by the German army.

With the bomb due to explode imminently, Private Plumpick (Alan Bates) must find and diffuse it before it's too late.

But when he mistakenly enters an abandoned psychiatric hospital while on the run from German soldiers, he discovers that the reality the patients have created for themselves is much more appealing than that of the ongoing war and his time-bound duties.
