The Lady Is a Square

1950s musical comedy starring Frankie Vaughan. When up-and-coming musician Johnny Burns (Vaughan) falls for Joanna Baring (Janette Scott), the daughter of widowed classical musical promoter Frances Baring (Anna Neagle), he does all he can to get on her mother's good side.

Upon signing a record deal Johnny uses the cash advance to help out Joanna who is struggling financially.

However, when Joanna's mother finds out that Johnny is a pop musician, she is less than impressed.
