During the First World War, Lawrence aids Prince Faisal (Alec Guinness), Sherif Ali (Omar Sharif) and the Arab people in their fight against the Ottoman Empire.

As he strives to unite the desert tribes into a single fighting force, he wins a series of military victories but soon finds himself torn between his loyalty to Britain and his allegiance to his new comrades.

The cast also includes Anthony Quinn, Jack Hawkins and José Ferrer.
