Rebbetzin Amelie Jakobovits, the wife of the then Chief Rabbi of England, Rabbi Emmanuel Jacobowitz, told Chava Lehman: "Every Jewish Child Must Be Offered An Education." With that mandate, Chava Lehman devoted 26 years of her life to Kisharon Day School in London.

She was the impetus for its establishment and oversaw its daily operations until her retirement in March 2002.

In this book, "The Laughter And The Tears," she presents her story of being a part of building a school dedicated to revealing the 'Kisharon' of its students. "The greatest achievement of Kisharon Day School, beyond the more emotional aspect of making disability more acceptable in the Jewish community, was the accreditation with the Department of Education...Our children cannot speak for themselves and their parents are often afraid to speak out.

Our children lead lonely lives and their school day is central to their welfare.

They need the guidance of skilled, caring professionals who feel valued in a stress-free environment." ...Chava Lehman
