The Mexico Trilogy

In 'El Mariachi' (1992) peace-loving El Mariachi (Carlos Gallardo) just wants to sing in local bars like his father before him.

However, when he arrives in a small Mexican border town, a ruthless lookalike hitman kills a member of the local gang and the ensuing case of mistaken identity sparks a violent quest for revenge. 'Desperado' (1995) is both a sequel to and a remake of 'El Mariachi' starring Antonio Banderas as the mysterious Mariachi.

He carries a guitar case full of weapons with him which he plans to use to avenge the death of his lover.

Aided by bookstore owner Carolina (Salma Hayek), he hunts down the last of the druglords responsible, dispensing his own brand of justice to anyone who gets in his way.

Finally, in 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico' (2003), rogue CIA agent Sands (Johnny Depp) recruits the legendary vigilante Mariachi (Banderas) to help him prevent an assassination attempt on the Mexican president.

Although Mariachi has been in hiding since the death of his wife Carolina and their child, Sands manages to persuade him to join him because they will be fighting a common enemy, General Marquez (Gerardo Vigil), who is leading the assassination attempt and with whom Mariachi has a score to settle...
