Midsomer Murders: John Nettles' Favourite Investigations

Four episodes from the popular detective series, selected by star John Nettles.

In 'Blue Herrings' (1999), Barnaby (Nettles) becomes suspicious regarding a death at the Lawnside Rest Home when his Aunt Alice (Phyllis Calvert) - who is recuperating there temporarily - reports hearing footsteps in the night and seeing a stranger lingering at the gate.

Although initial investigations reveal little of importance, Alice's fears begin to look well founded when two more residents die in short order.

In 'Murder On St. Maley's Day' (2002), Barnaby and Troy (Daniel Casey) must discover who stabbed a pupil from Devington School during the annual St Malley's Day race.

The pupil is a member of the secretive Pudding Club and the two policemen need to break the club's silence before they can solve the case.

In 'Sins of Commission' (2004), a prize-winning author is murdered on the eve of the 12th Annual Midsomer St Michael Literary Festival, but despite the tragedy, sponsor Sam Callaghan (Tom Mannion) is determined that the event should go ahead.

When a blackout at the reception event creates an opportunity for a second murder, Barnaby begins an investigation that uncovers a hotbed of corruption, sexual scandal and financial mismanagement.

Finally, in 'Picture of Innocence' (2007), Detective Barnaby becomes part of the investigation, as he is pictured in a romantic embrace with a woman just prior to her husband's murder.
