The Pride and the Passion

Stanley Kramer's film is based on the novel by C.S.

Forester which is set in Spain during the Napoleonic Wars.

British military officer Captain Anthony Trumbull (Cary Grant) is ordered to retrieve a large cannon and transport it to the British lines.

In order to do this he enlists the help of guerilla leader Miguel (Frank Sinatra) and together - along with Miguel's mistress Juana (Sophia Loren) who takes a shine to Trumball - they track through the mountains of Spain to the British frontline.
