Rock the Kasbah

Barry Levinson directs this comedy starring Bill Murray as Richie Lanz, an aged and washed-up rock music manager.

On a whim, Lanz decides to take his only remaining client, part-time singer and part-time secretary Ronnie (Zooey Deschanel) on a tour of United States Army stations in Afghanistan.

On arrival, a stunned Ronnie pockets Lanz's cash and passport and bolts.

Stranded, Richie Lanz ends up undertaking a gun run to rural villages on behalf of unhinged Kabul don (Bruce Willis), where he encounters shy Salima (Leem Lubany) who has an extraordinary voice although culture forbids her from singing in public.

Sensing potential success, Richie helps Salima travel to Kabul where he enters her in 'Afghan Star', the Afghani version of 'American Idol'.
