Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World/Hot Fuzz/Shaun of the Dead

Triple bill of comedy films from director Edgar Wright.

In 'Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World' (2010) Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) is a 22-year-old slacker who plays bass for garage band Sex Bob-omb and is casually dating a pretty but vacuous high school girl.

When the drop-dead gorgeous Ramona V. Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) rollerblades into his life, Scott falls head over heels for her, but there's a major catch: Ramona's seven evil ex-boyfriends stand in his way, each one more violent and malicious than the last and all equally intent on obliterating her new love interest.

In 'Hot Fuzz' (2007) the arrest record of a hotshot young London cop (Simon Pegg) puts the whole metropolitan force to shame, causing his superiors to shunt him to a rural posting hoping they've heard the last of him.

The sleepy hamlet he's posted to, however, behind all the lace curtain politeness, is a hotbed of grisly murder and vigilantism.

His diligence and character sit ill with the locals - all except the Sergeant's layabout son (Nick Frost) who's a huge fan of the cop buddy movie genre.

The pair bond and end up taking on the town in a guns-blazing, granny-kicking, rocket-launching gore-fest in the interests of ridding the town of a sinister cult of pensioners who're dedicated to keeping order at any cost.

Finally, in the zom-com 'Shaun of the Dead' (2004), Shaun (Pegg) is a useless but likeable thirty-something who works in an electronics shop in Crouch End.

He doesn't get much respect from his fellow staff, even though he's standing in as temporary boss; his girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield) has had enough of his lack of direction and penchant for downing pints in the local pub; and he doesn't get on with his stepdad (Bill Nighy).

Things get worse when the living dead make their appearance, threatening to spread their zombie curse across the nation.

Will Shaun be able to rise from his sofa to save the lives of the two women he loves - Liz and his dear old mum?
