Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo star in this psychological thriller directed by Martin Scorsese.

In 1954, U.S. Marshals Edward Daniels (DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Ruffalo) are sent to Shutter Island which is home to a psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane.

As they investigate the disappearance of Rachel Solando (Emily Mortimer), a patient who previously killed her three children, the case becomes increasingly complicated.

It soon becomes apparent that no one on the island is telling the truth and as Daniels becomes more embroiled in the sinister goings on, he begins to question everything, even his own sanity...

The cast also includes Ben Kingsley, Michelle Williams and Max von Sydow.
