The Song of Bernadette

Henry King directs this classic drama based on the novel by Franz Werfel about Saint Bernadette and her visions at Lourdes. 14-year-old Bernadette Soubirous (Jennifer Jones) is enrolled in a Catholic school where she finds life challenging, often being shamed in front of her friends for not learning her sacraments.

While out on an errand, Bernadette approaches a cave where she sees a mysterious lady shrouded in light and holding a rosary.

When she confides in some close friends about her experience the news quickly spreads throughout the town and Bernadette becomes the subject of much gossip and ridicule as most people consider her claims to be preposterous.

However, as she continues to visit the cave and witnesses further sightings of the lady she remains committed to her story despite facing scrutiny from local government and church authorities.
