Miss Julie ([New] ed.)

"Miss Julie" was written in 1888 and caused public protests when it was first staged.

It is Strindberg's masterpiece in which he presents with startlingly modernity the conflict between sexual and social position.

Written at the height of his powers, it belongs to the magnificent series of plays, notably "The Father and Creditors", in which he treated sex and marriage with frank realism previously unknown in the theatre.
