Until 50 years ago the villages of Milton Keynes were at the heart of an agricultural landscape. The villages had small populations and the inhabitants were dependent on the land. The development of the new town has practically eliminated these ancient villages and the character they had developed over centuries.
John Taylor has recorded in detail the history of these villages in the 19th and 20th centuries before they were subsumed by Milton Keynes.
