The Thaw

Val Kilmer stars in this sci-fi horror set on a remote island in the Arctic circle.

When leading ecologist Dr Kruipen (Kilmer) takes a team of scientists to investigate the effects of global warming at a research centre in the Canadian Arctic, they discover an unknown parasite in the carcasses of both a recently-deceased polar bear and a prehistoric woolly mammoth.

Before long a horrific and deadly infestation has taken hold as the unknown bug multiplies at an alarming rate and effortlessly adapts to human hosts.
