Safe Working and the Prevention of Infection in Clinical Laboratories

This guidance provides health and safety information for all those involved in work in clinical pathology laboratories.

It is relevant to work in hospitals and other facilities where people may be exposed to biological agents and diagnostic work in patient care areas.

The guidance is intended to help employers, managers and employees identify and assess the risks of infection, take appropraite precautions to eliminate or control such risks, prpare standard operating procedures and ensure that everyone is aware of the risks and what to do about them.
