True Stories - The Criterion Collection

David Byrne, lead singer of Talking Heads, directs and narrates this journey through Virgil, Texas, an isolated American town populated by a plethora of eccentrics.

Byrne brings to life characters culled from sensational true stories he had collected over the years, including the laziest woman in the world who never gets out of bed, a paranoid preacher whose gospel songs are directed at governmental corruption rather than God and a lovelorn country singer (John Goodman) on a desperate search for a partner.

The film also features a number of Talking Heads compositions, sung by the characters in the film.
