These "Outdoor Learning Cards- Portable Ideas"- are a series of 6 cards which present a pocket full of ideas that build upon the fascinations of children.

The card sets are practical, portable and designed to share the possibilities of playing outside in nature.

The card sets; Mud, Puddles, Wood Whittling, Charcoal, Cooking and Wind can be used to stimulate curiosity and engage children through rich learning opportunities inside, outside and beyond.

The card sets by Mindstretchers Ltd(t) are designed by Claire Warden as part of a range of publications and products which support outdoor learning.

Claire uses the term "Nature Pedagogy" to define her approach to teaching children in a measured manner which allows them the freedom to explore, discover and make their own stories or meanings in a natural setting.

These Learning Cards flow from her "Fascinations of.." four book series ((c)Claire Warden 2011) which aim to demonstrate how we deliver a "curriculum" whilst allowing an enquiring mind to follow its own fascinations, to reac h a deeper connection.Developed as a methodology for teaching and learning ,the cards are simple, clear and easy to use which, through authentic experiences, empower staff to deliver a broad curriculum. Following children aged 3 to 11 years in both play based environments and also in more structured school environments the cards represent smaller and deeper fascinations; those simple, natural experiences and materials that support complex learning.

Ultimately, it is a way of "being" with children.
