Under a test of initiative, a group of British soldiers are tasked with a scavenger hunt in which they must retrieve six recognised symbols of British life.

Items on the list include a rare rose, a hood ornament from a Rolls Royce and a lock of hair from a singer.

The cast also includes Bernard Cribbins, Denholm Elliott and Leslie Phillips.
