"War and Peace" relates the destiny of characters who symbolize Russian society, especially three noble families - the Rostovs, the Bolkonski family, and the Bezukhovs - over a period of fifteen years, on a backdrop of historical events.

There is Nikolai, the young soldier, Natasha, his tender-hearted sister, Andrei, the ambitious young man, and Pierre, who is forever pursuing an ideal that neither luxury nor power can procure him.
