Design for health : the impact of a new hospital environment on children, families and staff

This study documents the experiences of children, parents and staff using the new purpose-built Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, which was opened in April 2001, making comparisons with the design of the old hospital.

The report reflects the realities and practical difficulties of caring for children in hospital, environmental issues involved as well as the psychological and health needs.

It focuses on the way in which the design and organisation of the built environment and facilities can improve the patient experience, whilst also taking into account the staff perspective.
