"Double Act": Ten-year-old twins Ruby and Garnet look alike but have very different personalities.

Everything starts to change when their widowed dad brings home Rose, his new partner.

They move to the country, but the girls, particularly Ruby, find country life with their new step-mum difficult to cope with, so they make plans to sneak off to the big city to audition for a TV series and apply to a posh boarding school.

But the girls' best efforts do not go according to plan and the story is brought to a memorable conclusion. "The Illustrated Mum": Dolphin and Star's mum is amusing and fun to be with, but she is also depressive, unpredictable and unreliable, often choosing to spend her nights out partying.

Furthermore, she's covered in tattoos from head to foot.

Dolphin and Star love their mum but is she the right person to look after them?

This contemporary story deals with real-life issues affecting the lives of many children including bullying, family expectations, growing up with one parent and facing adulthood.

Programme 1 covers 'My Life. Hobbles, where I live, childhood'; and Programme 2 covers 'How I Write.
