The Southern Uplands, the Central Lowlands, the Grampians, the North-West Highlands and Skye, and the islands: each of these regions of Scotland has its own special landscape and weather conditions.

This book invites you to investigate the different environments and how they lead to differing ways of life.

It looks at making a living, methods of transport, and environmental issues of particular concern in Scotland. The Step-Up series is for pupils in Key Stage Two. Highly illustrated with colour photographs and diagrams, each spread addresses a particular topic. Text is clear and divided into easily digestible paragraphs, whilst key words are highlighted. Suggestion boxes throughout each book provide activities and tips for the reader, whilst a spread at the back for teachers and parents provides more activity suggestions and advice on how to use the book with children.
