Personal Orders
For all personal orders, there is a flat fee of £3.95 (3-5 business days) unless the order total is more than £50 in which case we offer free delivery. We also offer a premium delivery service (1-2 business days) for a fee of £5.95.
Please note that delivery times depend on product availability, your location, and delivery selections. If your order has not arrived within the expected time frame and was sent via Royal Mail, please allow 10 working days for it to arrive before contacting Customer Services. If it was sent on a trackable service and there are issues with delivery, please contact us so we can resolve this for you.
Unfortunately, we cannot ship personal orders internationally.

Delivery within 24 hours
Orders over £50
- For in-stock unserviced items placed before 4 pm, we offer free delivery, and the order will be delivered to you the next working day.
Orders under £50
- For orders under £50, we offer a premium delivery option to receive your order the next working day at a nominal charge of £3.95.
- If the £3.95 charge for premium delivery is not chosen and your order is under the £50 threshold, then your order will be held up until 21 days. This is to give your order a chance to reach the required threshold for free delivery. If after the 21 days, your order still has not reached the threshold, then your order will be sent as normal free of charge.
Delivery within 48 hours due to geographical locations
- Orders over £50 for in-stock unserviced items placed after 4 pm would be dispatched to the customer the following day for delivery within 48 hours.
Serviced Items
- Serviced items will generally be dispatched within 5 working days of an invoice being raised, however during busier periods (The start of the Academic Year) please allow 1-2 weeks for supply.
- Any items ordered where the full quantity is not available at the time of ordering will be placed on backorder and delivered as stock becomes available.
International Deliveries
- Trade orders can be delivered internationally. Unfortunately, any personal orders cannot be shipped internationally.
- If your destination is not on the list below, we can obtain quotes from our preferred shipper TNT within a very short period.
Returns
All books supplied to the customer on a firm sale basis only. Returns will be allowed in the event of books being damaged or faulty, or incorrectly supplied against your order at the discretion of Browns Books. Returns must be registered with our Customer Care Team. Unauthorised returns will be refused and returned at your expense. Books received damaged should be reported within 7 days and returned within a further 7 days clearly stating the damage. Faulty books are allowed up to 3 months to qualify for a return. For damaged and faulty items Browns Books will replace the books where possible, but if it is no longer available, a credit note will be supplied. A copy of the invoice or invoice number is to be enclosed with the return.
Part of a Framework agreement?
Delivery for Scotland Excel: All orders are supplied carriage FREE for mainland Scotland and the Highlands and Islands. No minimum order value is applied.
If your educational establishment is part of a council agreement or framework then your delivery costs may already be pre-agreed according to framework agreement.
