Time Off for Trade Union Duties and Activities (3 Revised edition)

Trade union officials have a statutory right to reasonable paid time off from employment to carry out trade union duties and to undertake trade union training.

This code of practice provides guidance on: the entitlements to time off for trade union activities and training, including Union Learning Representatives; the shared responsibilities of employers and trade unions; the advantages of formal agreements on time off; industrial action and methods of appeal.

This Code supersedes the 1997 ed. (ISBN 0117818402). It is issued under s 199 of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 and came into effect on 27 April 2003.
