Nicola Hicks is a sculptor of international reknown, best known for her creatures formed from plaster and straw and her, often life-size, drawings on huge sheets of brown paper.

This new book brings together over 100 images with texts written by James Delingpole, Will Self, Ann Elliott, Benedict Read and Anthony Denselow.

EXCERP: "Nicola Hicks' figurative work is wholly distinctive.

It can demonstrate - and overcome - that fundamental challenge of sculpture, the representation of the body in movement in a static format. 'I have a feeling in my head of a piece. It's the feeling of the twist in a dance'." B. Read "I'm the camel that broke the straw's back. I'm the intrusion into everybody's lives that has provoked this odd exodus.

In the hateful hollow I dwelt, face down in the cold mulch of leaves and twigs and worms and trundling lice." W.
