Design Risk Management : Contribution to Health and Safety

See all formats and editions

Construction is one of the worst industries in the UK for its health and safety record and, despite regular drives from the Government's Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the number of deaths and injuries on site remain unacceptably high.

The HSE have been targeting contractors from some years but they are now turning their attention to designers who also have a responsibility to ensure that their designs take account of health and safety, whether it is during the construction process or later at the maintenance stage.

This new publication will give guidance to construction practitioners with a design responsibility on how to identify and manage health and safety risks, and on the design strategies to be followed.

It will include a number of case studies and court cases, and enquiries as examples.
