The role of the health care worker : the NVQ 'O' unit

Guidance is given on the selection and registration for an NVQ/SVQ award, and on the best ways to develop a personal portfolio of evidence.With an emphasis on the personal experience of the carer, the book gives examples of the way in which health-care workers are providing care in a wide range of settings, and shows how their normal activities can be used as a basis for an NVQ/SVQ award.

The 'O' unit is discussed in terms of the underpinning principles, and its application to units Z1 contributes to the protection of individuals from abuse (Level 2), and promotes communication with clients where there are communication difficulties (Level 3).
