The Topsy-Turvies are just a nice ordinary family. They sleep in the kitchen, get up at midnight and have breakfast in the bedroom, wear their coats indoors and their pyjamas when they go out, and are most surprised when they visit Mrs Plum next door and find she doesn't.

They decide to make her house lovely for her by turning everything upside down - and when a burglar climbs through the window, they do their best to make him feel at home.
